For All: Group Drumming
Playing music, especially drumming, is a form of active meditation which a lot of people find easier to engage in than traditional meditation practices.
Active meditations are an excellent way of stopping intrusive thoughts, boosting feel good hormones and creating a “positive disruption” for the mind and soul.
The instruments I use all promote free improvisations and creativity which is hugely encouraging and rewarding for the participant. A rhythmic life is a happy life!
Drum sessions are a great way to connect with yourself and others. Hands On Percussion drum sessions offer a chance to relax, play guided rhythms, unwind, jam and create your own beats, meet new people and improve your physical and mental health.
Sessions are informal are not about performance but participation, and beginners of all ages are very welcome. Whether it’s using the calming, gentle beats of the Buffalo drum, playing the Bamboo Tamboo or simply tapping a tambourine, drum sessions are an inclusive environment with plenty of opportunity for free play (drum circle style).
Drumming helps relax people, lowers stress levels at a cellular level, creates belonging, promotes teamwork without being competitive, gives focus, encourages, produces determination, leads to a healthier lifestyle, helps slow down cognitive decline and sharpens the brain.
